Sandra Tarleton has been named director of laboratory services at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Tarleton has a diverse background in medical technology that ranges from experience in education, management, supervisory roles and roles as laboratory specialist and laboratory generalist work in large academic teaching institutions, medical centers, veterinary hospitals and private laboratories.
Tarleton received a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. and a master’s degree in public health from the University of Georgia in Athens. Before joining Blount Memorial, Tarleton worked with Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., where she managed the Carolinas Laboratory Network Core Microbiology Laboratory. She also served on the College of Health Sciences Advisory Board for the Clinical Laboratory Science program; coordinated and developed microbiology rotations for pediatric infectious disease residents; and coordinated orientation for infection prevention practitioners and clinical pharmacists.
