The Blount County Community Health Initiative’s Substance Abuse Prevention Action Team (SAPAT) is inviting the community to take part in a landmark event that will introduce a new community-wide collaborative effort to prevent underage substance abuse in Blount County.
For the past few years, “Take A Stance” has been the moniker most associated with an annual “movie night” event for area teens who pledged to remain drug- and alcohol-free. Now, SAPAT is teaming up with Blount Memorial Hospital, Blount Discount Pharmacy, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, the Alcoa and Maryville Police Departments, the Blount County Health Department, Blount Partnership, area school systems, and other local businesses to spread the “Take A Stance” message all across Blount County.
SAPAT will host a press conference detailing this joint effort on Friday, July 31 at 10 a.m. at the Blount Partnership, located at 201 S. Washington St. in Maryville. The entire community is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
