The Blount County Community Health Initiative’s Substance Abuse Prevention Action Team (SAPAT) is continuing its community-wide “Take A Stance” program aimed at preventing substance abuse in our area by offering new “Take A Stance” ribbons at local businesses.
For as little as $1, you can purchase a “Take A Stance” ribbon to help support ongoing SAPAT initiatives addressing a number of local health and safety challenges including underage tobacco use, drinking and drug abuse; alcohol sales to minors; binge drinking among youth; community-wide prescription drug abuse; methamphetamine labs and use; driving under the influence; accidental drug overdoses; and medication safety.
The ribbons will be available beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1 through Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the following businesses:
- All Blount County E-Z Stop Food Marts, Inc. locations
- All Blount County Kenjo Market locations
- Blount Discount Pharmacy – Montgomery Lane, Gill Street and Blount Memorial Hospital locations
- Volunteer Pharmacy
- Lowes Drug Store
- City Drug Company
- Green Meadow Wine and Spirits
- Topside Wine and Spirits
- The Wine and Spirits Cellar
In July, SAPAT launched its new “Take A Stance” campaign in a collaborative effort with Blount Memorial Hospital, Blount Discount Pharmacy, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, the Alcoa and Maryville Police Departments, the Blount County Health Department, Blount Partnership, area school systems, and several local businesses, all of which continue to work to spread the “Take A Stance” message.
