April 25, 2019, 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM

"Lifelong Learning" is a series of presentations designed to promote learning opportunities for anyone interested in challenging his or her thinking and enhancing brain stimulation. All age groups are encouraged to attend. This event is sponsored by Blount Memorial Senior Services, Maryville College and Vienna Coffee Company.

Author David Lee Zimmerman illustrates in his book Americana Music, the genre of Americana covers a gamut of sounds and styles. Zimmerman says, “It’s a sound that reflects its traditions, its dichotomy as the sound of people sharing their hopes, their dreams and their values.” As a former promotions representative for ABC and Capitol Records, Zimmerman took the opportunity to interview a vast array of Americana artists. He will present his understanding of this musical genre, tell of his encounters with influential musical artists and read excerpts from his book, Americana Music.
