Senior Health Circle - Older Drivers and the Open Road

August 28, 2019, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Older drivers face multiple challenges in navigating the changes in roadways. The ever-changing traffic density and flow, newer and more complicated driving technologies, blinding lights, construction zones, and aging bodies are some of the issues affecting the safe operation and navigation of motor vehicles by older drivers on today’s highways. Older drivers statistically are one of the safest subgroups of drivers, but as a group, they are more at risk for causalities and fatalities when crashes do occur. Don Lindsey, AARP volunteer leader and retired AAA public relations manager, is and has been an advocate for older drivers in his professional career. He will present a broad range of issues and challenges that impact older drivers today. He also will focus on social, economic, and personal aspects of aging drivers, as well as how to driver safer, longer.
