With a quick snap of the scissors, Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital officially cut the ribbon on a new Total Rehabilitation clinic in Madisonville on Wednesday, June 4.
The opening was met with a round of applause from the dozens of attendees, including Monroe County Mayor Mitch Ingram, State Representative Lowell Russell, members of the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce and team members from numerous Prisma Health Total Rehabilitation clinics.
Conveniently located off U.S. Highway 411 and within walking distance from downtown, Prisma Health Total Rehabilitation Madisonville brings new outpatient rehabilitation services to patients in the Madisonville area, including physical therapy, neurological therapy, vestibular therapy and more.
“I grew up in Coker Creek, so Monroe County is very near and dear to my heart,” said physical therapist and clinic manager Krystal Clough. “I know people here who don't seek medical care because of the drive and distance. Being able to bring a part of Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital closer to our community is a huge win for everyone. I've always bragged about how the people of my hometown take care of one another. Now, it's our turn to take care of the great people who live here,” Clough added.
Having first opened its doors in late January, the clinic already has served patients from Monroe, McMinn and Loudon Counties and can work collaboratively with Prisma Health’s existing clinic in Vonore to offer additional rehabilitation services, such as aquatic therapy, speech therapy and pelvic floor therapy, as well as primary care, dermatology and interventional pain management.
“This facility is an important step for Prisma Health, as we continue to expand access to health care not only in Blount County, but in surrounding counties, as well,” Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital chief executive officer Jonathan Smith said. “We’re very pleased to be bringing our rehabilitation services to Madisonville, and I’m hopeful we’ll be cutting ribbons on more clinics and facilities in this area in the near future,” he added.
