Blount Memorial's "Mitten Tree" is Back

The Blount Memorial Hospital emergency department’s “mitten tree” has returned to once again help provide a little relief from the cold.

Marking its third year of bringing warmth to those in need, the tree is decorated with new gloves, scarves and hats instead of lights and ornaments, all of which can be taken by anyone who needs them, with no questions asked or money exchanged.

The “mitten tree” sits just inside the emergency room waiting area, and will stay there for the next couple of months. Emergency department staff members will “redecorate” the tree as needed.
