Blount Memorial Hospital has earned a “B” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits. The score was awarded in the Spring 2024 update to the Hospital Safety Grade. Letter grades of A, B, C, D or F are assigned to U.S. hospitals based on preventable medical errors, injuries accidents and infections. The Hospital Safety Grade was compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and is designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families.
“I’m very pleased that our patient safety efforts and outcomes have earned us this grade from The Leapfrog Group, which is another step in our ongoing mission of providing outstanding care to our patients and our community” said Blount Memorial interim CEO Jonathan Smith. “Patient safety is – and has always been – the primary goal of Blount Memorial Hospital, and everyone from our Blount Memorial family is committed to providing a safe environment for patients, their visitors and their families. We will continue to provide the best-possible care to this community as we continue our journey to an ‘A’ grade,” he added.

About The Leapfrog Group
Founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers, The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care.
