Board of Directors Elects Officers

The Blount Memorial Hospital board of directors held its annual election of officers on Tuesday, June 25 and unanimously appointed a new board president, as well as a new co-vice president.

Chris Flynn will serve as president of the board of directors, a role previously filled by Dr. Stephen Kiefer, who will continue to serve as a board member through the end of 2024, completing his term. Flynn is a professional engineer and serves as senior vice president and global head procurement manager with Revantage Corporate Services. He is appointed by the Blount County Commission and has served on the board since May 2023.

Amber Krupacs was elected to serve as co-vice president alongside Matt Haralson, who previously served as co-vice president with Flynn. Krupacs is a retired vice president and chief financial officer from Clayton Homes. She has served on the board since October 2023 and is appointed by the Blount County Commission. Haralson is an attorney with Kizer & Black, Attorneys and has served on the board since March 2023. Haralson is appointed by the City of Alcoa.

Customarily, Blount Memorial Hospital’s CEO serves as the board's secretary and treasurer. Interim CEO Jonathan Smith was elected to continue serving in this role.

The board is comprised of nine members who serve three-year renewable terms. Four are appointed by the Blount County Commission, two each by the cities of Maryville and Alcoa, and one by the Board of Trustees for Maryville College. Additionally, two physicians, elected by their peers, were added to the board in 2024 as non-voting members.
